Hickman County has a natural beauty and lifestyle. Because residents have just a short drive to Nashville, they have the best of both worlds: access to metropolitan amenities and quiet, peaceful living. Hickman County has become a popular destination for camping and retreats. Centerville is the county seat. Nunnelly and Bon Aqua are two other towns in Hickman County.
This county was after Edwin Hickman, an explorer and surveyor who was killed in an Indian attack at Defeated Creek in 1791. The county was established in 1807.
Hickman County is growing as a result of its convenient location on I-40 just past Williamson County and Fairview.
